The 2026 Changes to Personal Statements
Date:
The UniTasterDays Parents’ Guide to University 2026 is created for the parents and supporters of prospective university students, to help them provide effective support in making an informed choice about university. It features contributions by over 80 university representatives from across the UK, along with expert voices from outside the sector, such as educator and TV personality Baasit Siddiqui. The guide is supported by HELOA, a membership group for university advisers.
My article on The 2026 Changes to Personal Statements explains how the new UCAS format differs from previous years, what each of the three new questions is designed to uncover, and how parents and carers can support their applicant(s) to respond effectively. It also offers practical advice on making the most of the 4,000-character limit, avoiding common mistakes, and understanding what university admissions teams are really looking for.
